Xi Mou-AbstractWith the pervasive integration of electronic display products into daily life, the health effects associated with light emitted from screens have become a growing concern. This talk delves into the complex visual and non-visual effects produced by electronic display screens. It addresses common myths and misconceptions about healthy displays, with a focus on the actual effects of blue light from various displays on human health, as well as the quantitative assessment and measurement of these human factors’ indicators. The necessity of product design strategies that balance visual effects with health considerations is emphasized. The talk further analyzes the impact of blue light on cognitive abilities, fatigue, sleep quality, and retinal health from guidelines and research findings. Moreover, based on the commercially available flat panel and virtual reality displays, it explores the light and health in the design of electronic display products and the establishment of an internationally recognized standard system. This review highlights the importance of designing displays that focus on human health in the digital age. |
