Resolution Enhancement of Light Field Near Eye Display Using Elemental Image OptimizationResolution Enhancement of Light Field Near Eye Display Using Elemental Image Optimization We present a resolution-enhancement method for light field near eye displays that mitigates the resolution loss caused by microlens array-based spatial multiplexing. The approach exploits sub-pixel retinal shifts across multiple viewpoints to form virtual sampling positions, enabling higher perceived resolution without hardware changes. Using a linear mapping between display pixels and retinal intensities, we optimize the elemental image array via viewpoint and retinal losses. Experiments demonstrate sharper retinal imagery compared to conventional light field near eye displays. |
